A successful million dollar Capital Campaign resulted in the building of a 7500 sq. ft. facility to meet the growing needs of Williamson County. The new facility is located at 1811 SE Inner Loop near the Juvenile Justice Center. Several area building professionals donated their labor, skills, material and/or financial assistance to aid in the success of the project. In addition, County and City Officials supported our efforts and helped turn dirt at our Groundbreaking in September 2006 (see below). February 26th the Foundation was poured, November 7th marked the Grand Opening! Since officially opening it's doors in 1998, the Center has provided services to over 2300 primary child victims of abuse. Assistance and referrals have been made to an estimated 12,000+ secondary victims. There has been a steady increase in the number of victims aided yearly and a recognized need for additional space to meet the increasing numbers and additional services needs. The new facility includes additional interview rooms, a medical exam room, and private rooms for individual and group counseling for children, teens, and adults. In November 2007, the Center began providing both On-Site Counseling and Referrals to area therapists who have been pre-screened, understand the needs of the children seen at the Center, and who have vacancies so that needs can be met almost immediately. The inclusion of a medical exam room will allow the scheduling of non-acute sexual abuse exams to be conducted on-site by specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners and/or physicians. This availability is beneficial to law enforcement needing to schedule and get results for investigations and also provides a "child-friendly" and more private atmosphere for the abused child or teen victims. Our medical component is scheduled to open in the Spring, 2008.

THE
NEW FACILITY IS
OPEN AND OPERATIONAL !! Grand Opening, 1811 SE Inner Loop Held Wednesday, November 7, 2007 Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center "Closing One Red Door, Opening Two"
406 West University (Georgetown) 1811 SE Innerloop (Georgetown) Where We Were Where We Are (Oct 22, 2007)
The Children's Advocacy Center was chartered as a non profit 501 ( c ) (3) in 1997. Then "District Attorney" Ken Anderson recognized the need for Williamson County children to have a safe and child friendly place to talk about alleged sexual and/or physical abuse. The quaint 1300 sq ft "home" at 406 West University Ave, Georgetown, started with one employee and accomplished 103 forensic interviews in 1998. (In 2007 we anticipate completing 630 forensic interviews.) In 2001, our current District Attorney John Bradley, replaced Ken (now Judge Anderson) as the Board President of this successful and growing non profit. He and the Board realized that the growth of Williamson County dictated the need for a larger Children's Advocacy Center, and in 2005 undertook the challenge of designing and finding financial support for a new "home". The result, less than three years later, is a beautiful, 7500 sq ft facility which will expand forensic interview services and will add full time counseling and forensic medical exams. We have many people to thank for making this dream come true.
